Welcome to The Episcopal Church of Our Saviour
of Madison County, Richmond, Kentucky.

In observance of the Governor's restrictions due to the corona virus, we are not having in person worship services for the foreseeable future. We look forward to welcoming everyone as soon as we are able to resume our worship services. We are praying daily for everyone affected by the corona virus. Have a blessed day and stay safe at home.

Rev. Carol Ruthven

The Day of Pentecost is one of the seven Principal Feasts of the Church (BCP p. 15). The Book of Acts recounts how the eleven faithful followers of Jesus gathered to worship in the home of one of the disciples in Jerusalem. This small group had lived and traveled with Jesus and they believed that Jesus was the living Christ. While they worshipped together, there was a noise so loud that it could not be ignored. Their minds and bodies experienced the sound, energy, and feeling of the coming of the Holy Spirit, just as Jesus had promised. All of the disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit.

This momentous occasion is considered to be the birth of the Christian Church. It is a joyous day of celebration where we all wear red, a color associated with the flame of the Holy Spirit. It is a time when we celebrate how all of us and our brothers and sisters in our diocese, in our nation and indeed around the world gather together as Christians. We are collectively the Church; the body of Christ.

Please join us for the virtual service at the link below. Wear red. Have a joyful spirit and have a wonderful day.

Welcome to our celebration of Pentecost!  We hope you enjoy worshiping with us as we celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Before you begin the Pentecost service, Bishop Mark has an important message he would like to share with you as we struggle with the burden of racism in our nation.  To join the Prayer Vigil for Racial Justice and the Healing of our Nation sponsored by the Union of Black Episcopalians today from 4:00-5:00 p.m. EDT, follow this Zoom link. The Meeting ID is 921 4319 6842 and the password is 476808.  The prayer Bishop Mark shares is from the Pax Christi Anti-Racism Team.

As Episcopalians, we are dedicated to sharing the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are a community of faith in the tradition of The Episcopal Church and the worldwide Anglican Communion. We are a congregation in The Episcopal Diocese of Lexington. With Christians around the world, we are united in prayer and committed to continuing Jesus’ ministry of love, compassion, mercy and grace in serving those in need and transforming the world in loving, liberating and life-giving ways.

We provide a safe place in which you can develop a relationship with God and freely ask questions and seek answers. We embrace and celebrate diversity and inclusion. We worship and prayer together, learn and grow spiritually, and strive to share God’s love at every opportunity. We may not always agree with one another, but we love and respect one another. Whatever your background and whatever your personal beliefs, we welcome you.

May you be blessed abundantly by God’s love and comforted by God’s mercy, grace and peace.
